From Banker to Songwriter – Wedo.ai
On this weeks Wedotalk, David spoke with singer, songwriter and guitarist Steve Dagleish, or “Dagelfish”. After secondary school, Steve was offered a place at Imperial College, London to study physics. During his first year, he found himself playing his guitar more than studying. Nevertheless, he was accepted a full-time position at Barclays bank in the trading support area. In the years that followed, Steve became a foreign exchange trader, which he loved, and he later developed an interest in the psychology of trading and transitioned into a coaching role, in which he coached traders, salespeople and managers. In the 1990’s, after 20 years with Barclays Bank, he established his own company and built a client base of commercial and central banks.

In the early 2000’s, Steve became re-acquainted with his guitar, and tells the story of how he performed for the first time in 30 years, which led to many more songs and performances in the years that followed, first as part of a band and. Then as a solo performer. He talks about writing his own songs, some of the artists that have inspired him and shares stories of the successes and rejections that he has experienced.
