The World Is My Home with Guest Joanna – Wedo.ai

On May 1, 2021, David interviewed career teacher Joanna Monfort-Torres.
Joanna tells her story that she was born in the Philippines, grew up in California, and has lived in Finland, Spain, Ghana, United Arab Emirates and Madagascar, before returning to the USA in 2020. Her first experience living abroad was as an exchange student in a remote town in Eastern Finland during her final year in high school. From there, she did her undergraduate degree in Madrid, Spain, in International Relations and Diplomacy, with the plan to be an international civil servant, and her first job was to work for the United Nations in New York.
Joanna’s passion for working with people and serving others, led her to a career in teaching and that was her way of becoming an international civil servant. After completing her teaching degree, she went to work for a charter school in California for five years, and then launched herself into the world of teaching at international schools in Ghana, United Arab Emirates and Madagascar. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, she was repatriated to the USA, where she has worked at an international school for the last year. Joanna has decided to move on at the end of the current school year, and will talk about her next adventure when we return for another talk.
